UPSWAN (Uttar Pradesh Wide Area Network) was envisaged as the converged backbone network for data, voice and video communications throughout the State and is expected to cater the information communication requirements of all the Government departments.

UPSWAN 2.0 is one of the largest of its kind in India consisting 885 Point of Presence (PoPs) across the state. It is a highly secure, high speed, high capacity and reliable intra-state private MPLS cloud catering e-Governance services in entire state with Block level penetration.

Key facts are as follows:

• Uttar Pradesh Wide Area Network (UPSWAN) is a backbone network for secure and fast communications of data, voice and video throughout the State.
• Bharti Airtel Ltd has been selected as managed service provider and bandwidth service provider.
• Bharti Airtel Ltd is the implementation Agency for the Project UPSWAN2.0. Agreement was signed between Government of Uttar Pradesh, UPDESCO and Bharti Airtel Ltd.
• Total 885 PoPs have been established – 1 at State Headquarter, 75 at District Headquarters, 235 at Tehsil Headquarters and 574 at Block Headquarters.
• State Headquarter (SDC) is connected with 5 Gbps MPLS and 5 Gbps Internet bandwidth while all other sites including DHQ, THQ and BHQ are connected over 10 mbps bandwidth.

UPSWAN2.0 Network Highlights

• 885 PoPs (75 District head quarters, 235 tehsil head quarters and 574 block head quarters) are enabled for handling daily activities like Covid control room operation, video conferencing and all e-governance activities.
• 100% project has been deployed and all 885 PoPs are functional.
• The network can be seamlessly integrated with Govt initiatives like NICNET, Bharat Net etc.
• UPSWAN 2.0 infrastructure is scalable in nature and can cater more than 1 lakhs Users.
