  • An initiative launched under the Digital India Programme aiming to eliminate usage of physical documents and enable sharing of e-documents.
  • It aims at 'Digital Empowerment' of citizen by providing access to authentic digital documents to citizen's digital document wallet.
  • DigiLocker is a secure cloud based platform for storage, sharing and verification of documents & certificates.
  • The Beta version of Digital Locker (https://digitallocker.gov.in) has been launched on 10th February 2015.
  • Till date 147 different documents of Departments of the State have been added.
  • Till Date more than 73 Lakh's Digital lockers have been opened in Uttar Pradesh.
  • The e-District portal (Income, Caste, Domicile, Birth Death Certificates) of Government of Uttar Pradesh has been integrated with Digital Locker System. More than 08 crore documents are made available on DigiLocker.
  • The following departments have been on-boarded on DigiLocker platform as Issuer:-
    • Secondary Education (10th & 12th Mark sheets issued by UP Board)
    • Board of Technical Education (Diploma Certificate)
    • State Council of Vocational Training (ITIs Certificates)
    • Joint Entrance Examination Council
    • Registration of Vehicles
    • Ration Card
    • Degree and Diploma Certificates of certain State Universities
    • Skill Certificate
    • Water Bill/Connection (ULB)
